She studied Mass Communication at the University of Toledo and pursued graduate work in Interpersonal Communication at North Dakota State University—training that deepened her fascination with power dynamics, identity, and the subtle ways people shape one another.
She has lived in Ohio, North Dakota, Washington, and now Rhode Island— experiences that sharpened her attention to place and reinvention. Known to friends and family simply as Emily, she lives with her husband and five sons and is always at work on her next novel.
